British Psychological Society

Psychology Partnerships is a community interest company based in the North East of England comprising consultant practitioner psychologists (clinical and forensic) and a network of associates. We are committed to the provision of a responsive, flexible and cost efficient service to our clients.

At PPCIC we provide independent psychological services for those who sometimes have the most difficulty accessing an appropriate service to meet their needs.

We specialise in working with adults and young people with intellectual disabilities and their providers or carers - but not exclusively.  We are aware that there are gaps in provision across a number of sectors, such as between learning disability and mental health services, or between learning disability and forensic services.  As an organisation, we aim to work with partners in other professions and across agencies to try and help those clients who have problems accessing a psychologist.

We aim to be inclusive, not exclusive.

As a community interest company (see
www.cicregulator.gov.uk), our financial surplus is assigned to a separate fund which will go towards meeting the wider needs of the community. (Download our community interest statement here.)

Some examples of how our fund might be used are:

• Research to enhance the evidence base around the needs and requirements of people with intellectual disabilities.

• Conferences and training events in relevant areas for families and others involved in the care of people with intellectual disabilities.

All chartered psychologists are accredited by the British Psychological Society and adhere strictly to the Code of Practice and Ethics.  Since 1 July 2009, practitioner psychologists are now registered with the Health Professions Council according to which domain they work in.  Any unqualified staff working for Psychology Partnerships CIC, for example trainee and assistant psychologists, are supervised closely by a qualified member of staff.  Any associates from other disciplines are all qualified to an appropriate standard within their own profession.
