Heidi Fisher, BSc (Hons), MSc (Org.), MSc (Foren.).Heidi is a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.  She began her career in 1990 as a prison psychologist and has worked in most of the prisons in the North East of England.  She subsequently moved to the NHS as part of a multi-agency, multi-disciplinary court diversion team working with mentally disordered offenders, whilst maintaining a visiting psychologist role to the prison service. 


Most recently, Heidi has been employed as a consultant forensic psychologist in the NHS for seven years, specialising in the field of learning disabilities.  Her areas of interest include assessment and interventions with offenders with intellectual disabilities, and partnership working between agencies in managing risk. In particular, her approach involves working to support people with a learning disability at risk of offending, through advising on balancing risk management and seeking to enhance quality of life.

 



Paul Smith, MA, MSc, PhD, C.Psychol, AFBPsS

Paul Smith, MA, MSc, PhD.Paul is a Chartered Psychologist, an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and an honorary lecturer in clinical psychology at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. He has worked in the NHS in the field of learning disability since qualifying in 1974.


Paul specialises in providing assessments, overviews or second opinions on a wide range of complex casework with people with intellectual disabilities. In particular, he regularly undertakes legal reports on intellectual disability and mental capacity in areas such as child protection, adult protection, capacity to give evidence and reliability of statements to the police.


Paul has also had a strong clinical, teaching and research interest in continence problems, particularly in the case of people with more severe learning disabilities.
